KLT Summer Solstice Fundraiser a Success!

The Kansas Land Trust celebrated our annual fundraising event on the Summer Solstice! We are grateful for the opportunity to share our important work with our community. The Kansas Land Trust gathered our giving community to honor the Akin family who won the 2024 Friend of Conservation Award. Linda Renner and Larry Akin, children of Dorothy and Tom Akin of the Akin Prairie, accepted the award with friends and family surrounding them. The Akin Prairie, KLT’s first easement, is a very special place that invites the public to visit the incredible biodiversity found only in remnant prairies. KLT is honored to protect the Akin Prairie and was delighted to share the evening with Linda and Larry celebrating their family’s lasting legacy.

The Summer Solstice Celebration also featured author Sarah Smarsh as keynote speaker and launched our summer fundraising campaign, an initiative to support the Conservation Plan. The Conservation Plan is a data-driven document that will guide the Kansas Land Trusts future conservation efforts and serve to inspire others to support and pursue land conservation across the state. Stay tuned for more information about the Conservation Plan!
